Year of Snake card

This design series explores the art of festive communication through a Lunar New Year celebration card design. The initiative aims to bring people closer through thoughtfully crafted gifts during Asia's most significant festival.

The project captures the essence of Chinese Fai Chun—a traditional decoration featuring handwritten phrases for good luck and prosperity. This essence is expressed through the artwork's size, orientation, colour choices, illustrations, and element composition.

The heavyweight watercolour paper stock provides a substantial tactile experience, while its corrugated edges add a playful element to the festive design.

The screen printing method produces prints that embody craftsmanship, reflecting the care, patience, and effort invested in their creation.

This project both challenges and celebrates the enduring power of physical cards in our digital age, demonstrating how thoughtful design can transform a simple gesture into a cherished keepsake.

The design features illustrations in gold, red, and blue ink, screen-printed on Potentate 300 gsm corrugated hot press watercolour paper using a 200-mesh silk screen.
