Bank of China Macao 75th anniversary logo
Visual identity, Logo design
March 2025
Macao, China
This project began as a visual identity design contest for Bank of China Macao's 75th anniversary with a tight deadline. The goal was to create a logo commemorating this milestone, with applications both physical and digital, reflecting the bank's heritage while maintaining legibility and practicality.
The first design drew inspiration from the Chinese historical Léi Wén (雷紋) pattern. Its agile and adaptable nature allows the design to fit various environments while conveying historical significance. The connecting elements symbolise the relationship between Macao and China throughout the bank's history. The versatile composition works across printed materials such as stamps and postcards, as well as digital applications such as picture frames and social media filters.
The second design incorporated a lotus motif and the oval shape of traditional gold coins. The number 75, expressed in Roman numerals as LXXV, was integrated into the logo, creating striking symmetry alongside the lotus mark.
Both designs share a unified colour scheme—playful, youthful, and energetic—reinforcing the idea of continuous innovation and connection with younger generations. Unlike complex gradients and intricate palettes, the simple colour choices ensure clear legibility in both black and white and low-resolution formats.
